Magical Cusco [6 Days Tour]

CUSCO has become one of the most popular destinations in Peru. Located in a highland valley, fed by two rivers, the city’s unique layout was designed in the form of a puma by the Incas hundreds of years ago. The Incas endowed Cusco with some of their finest structures, many of which were so solidly built that they are still visible today. It may be difficult to get away from other travelers in the old center but Cusco’s magnificent history and ancient feel, that’s still very much present today, will floor you nevertheless.


Day 1 Arrive in Cusco
Activities Highlights: Arriving in Cusco [3450 m /11,152 ft.] - Check-in [Hotel in Downtown]

Arrive at the Cusco International Airport
Upon arriving, you will be met by a Melissa Peru Viagem representative who will escort you to your transportation vehicle. Relax as the driver assists with your luggage and drives you to the Hotel in the downtown.
Hotel in the Downtown
Unwind while your guide check you into your hotel located in Cusco's heart of the ancient city. The hotel is just minutes from a dazzling selection of restaurants, markets and museums.
On Your Own Dinner and Evening
If your flight arrives early, take some time on your own to explore ancient streets, diverse shops and restaurants in this lively neighborhood. You can also ask your guide for dining and night entertainment suggestions.

Day 2 City Tour and nearby inca sites
Activities Highlights: Visiting the nearby Inca sites of Tambomachay, Pukapukara, Q´enqo and Saqsaywaman. In the city the ancient temple of the Sun Qorikancha and the historical Cathedral at the main square.

Begin your day with a tasty breakfast and get ready for your tour in Cusco.

At 8:30 am, We will pick up you.
We will visit the nearby Inca sites of Tambomachay, Pukapukara, Q´enqo and Saqsaywaman, finally back in the City we will visit the Temple of the Sun known as Qorikancha, and then we walk shortly to the main square to visit the Cathedral, finishing the half-day tour. At the main square, ask our guide for some suggestions to lunch and dinning. In the afternoon, you have the chance to visit by yourself some nearby Museums.

Day 3 Upper Sacred Valley Tour
Activities Highlights: Chinchero (Textile center), Moray (Inca site) Maras (Salt pans still on use)
Urubamba (Lunch), Ollantaytambo (Inca site), Train to Aguas Calientes

Enjoy you breakfast at hotel and get ready for a great Day visiting the so known Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Pick Up
At 8 am. We will pick up you to ride to the great Inca Sacred Valley - Activities on route [We will visit the mixed ancient and contemporary sites]. At the beginning we ride to Chinchero, known to the Incas as the birthplace of the rainbow, this typical Andean village combines Inca ruins with a colonial church, some wonderful mountain views and a colorful Sunday market. Moray [the circle terraces]. Still believed to be a kind of ancient laboratory to acclimatize some seeds of the Inca crops. Salineras de Maras [This is one of the most spectacular sights in the area: thousands of salt pans that have been used for salt extraction since Inca times.]
Lunch included in Urubamba
Ollantaytambo (known to locals and visitors alike as Ollanta) is the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century.
After visiting the Ollantaytambo you spend a night to hike the Inca trail on the next day
Overnight in Ollantaytambo and packing just a small backpack for the next two days. Dinner Included in Town to have a briefing about the short Inca trail to Machu Picchu

Day 4 Hiking the Short Inca Trail 
After enjoying your breakfast, you can have a small hike to the train station.
Take the train
On the route, you will see many nice landscapes such as the cloud forest and rain forest
Arriving to km 104. 
Upon arriving to the km 104, you will get off the train for crossing the bridge to get the checkpoint of the trail. After the documents controls of the trail, you begin the hike about three hours uphill. On the trail you will enjoy the rain forest vegetation before to arrive to Wiñaywayna
Visiting Wiñaywayna
This nice inca settlement is perched on a ridge showing beautiful views of the mountains.
Continuing to Machu Picchu
After visiting Wiñaywayna, you take some time for having your box lunch. Then you continue walking to Machu Picchu, on the path you will see nice views of the Urubamba river and valley.
At Inti Punku
Once you arrive to this point, you’ll enjoy the spectacular view of Machu Picchu
Getting Aguas Calientes
After taking some pictures, you will continue walking downhill to the checkpoint of Machu Picchu, where you get the shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes (official name Machupicchu Pueblo)
Check in at hotel
Once you arrive to Aguas Calientes you can walk one more time to the Hotel for resting and later having your dinner included

Day 5 Visiting Machu Picchu
Activities Highlights: Visiting worldwide wonder of Machu Picchu
Breakfast at Hotel
We will make the line for taking the bus to Machu Picchu (ride: 30 minutes)
You will visit this ancient citadel following the new circuits. The guided tour will take between 2-3 hours. Machu Picchu is an extraordinary nature and cultural Inca settlement and UNESCO World Heritage site.
After visiting Machu Picchu we will come back to the town of Aguas Calientes
Lunch Included in Town.
After enjoying the lunch, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, we transfer you to your Hotel at town. Dinner optional

Day 6 Lower Sacred Valley: Village markets and ancient ruins
Activities Highlights: Visiting the lower Sacred Valley of the Incas
Breakfast at Hotel
Enjoy you breakfast at hotel and get ready for continuing visiting the so known Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Pick Up
At 8 am. We will pick up you to ride to the great Inca Sacred Valley
Visiting Inca sites
Urco: Ancient Inca shrine for worshipping water and sky watching. This site is very interesting because its stories and legends.
Pisac Ruins: A truly awesome site with relatively few tourists, this hilltop Inca citadel lies high above the village on a triangular plateau with a plunging gorge on either side.
Pisac Market: known everywhere for its silver market, by far the biggest and touristiest in the region. Every Sundays, fruit and vegetable sellers from nearby farming communities come to sell their produce. Lunch (Optional)
After visiting the Pisac Market we will drive you to Cusco
Hotel in Cusco
After arriving in Cusco. You can enjoy the city by night dinning in one of the restaurants by the main square.

Day 7 Transfer Out
Activities highlights:
Transfer to Cusco International Airport
Breakfast at the Hotel
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure before your journey home.
Transfer to Cusco International Airport
Board pre-arranged transportation to Cusco International Airport and say adiós to Cusco—until you return again!

***To extend your trip:
Spend four days and three nights hiking the Inca Trail from Cusco to Machu Picchu, but it is essential to reserve at least six months in advance as tickets are limited. The alternative five-day Salkantay to Machu Picchu trail is an option only for acclimatized, experienced hikers due to its high altitude passes.
